Virgin Atlantic has announced it will be cutting more than 3,000 jobs in the UK. This comes after Richard Branson was trying to get a loan from the UK government valued at £500m. However, he faced a lot of fair backlash after it was pointed out that the billionaire hasn’t paid personal income tax since moving to the British Virgin Islands 14 years ago. I personally believe it is vile that someone who doesn’t pay taxes then expects the UK tax players to bail them out. Instead of being a drain on the UK tax player Richard Branson should use this 4 billion net worth to help his workers and support the failing business. He got where he is today by standing on the backs of his workers it is time for him to pay them back, by covering their pay and not laying anyone off down to covid-19.
